When he had his trial, it was really big in the news. The rumor was that his civil service hearing to get reinstated was postponed because the City of Columbus had an income increase on the ballet last year that was promoted to "maintain current police & fire services" and avoid lay-offs.

Guys granted I am not a "save the planet hippie" type, but how can one do such a horrible thing to go on a cruise?

I hope he does not get his job back. He is clearly messed up in the head and I would not trust my safety to him.

  Yeah, I'm no animal rights Nazi, but to do something like that just to avoid paying boarding fees so he could take a cruise is sick. I have two pets and I'd gladly scape up the money to board them if I had to go out of town rather than do something that cruel. Yes, they are animals but they are kind of like part of the family and I couldn't think of killing either of them....
